- Title
Introduction: Difficulties with Sleep or Wakefulness.
- Authors
Neubauer, David N.
- Abstract
The author discusses difficulties associated with sleep or wakefulness. He notes that the degree to which the cause is chronic sleep insufficiency is one critical issue to consider when assessing people presenting with concerns about daytime sleepiness or poor concentration. He cites that sleepiness and cognitive impairment that result from acute or chronic sleep deprivation increase the risk for confusions. He says one of the primary sleep disorders that may result in clinically significant daytime sleepiness is obstructive sleep apnea.
