- Title
Acute kidney injury.
- Authors
Reuter, S.; Mrowka, R.
- Abstract
The article focuses on physiological aspects of acute kidney injury (AKI). It states that AKI is characterized by abnormalities in renal functions like reduction in glomerular filtration rate, and notes the association of AKI with increased risk for development of chronic kidney disease (CKD). It mentions involvement of a number of molecular signaling pathways in AKI such as signaling pathways activated by hypoxia, and cites association of enzymes like haeme-oxygenase-1 with AKI.
