- Abstract
A literary criticism of the works of authors Jack London and Ernest Hemingway is presented which examines the limits of primitivism and impact of race privilege. Topics discussed include use of primitivism to distinguish between privileged Anglo-American identity and racial minorities, evocation of the primitive which suggests low levels of humanity in modern culture, and efforts of Hemingway to explain primitivism exposing the problematic assumptions and limitations.
