- Abstract
The efficiency and productivity of sanding material depends on the material used for its production, the structure of abrasive grit and also on the exploitation condition. Sanding process is very complicated: a lot of abrasive grits participate in the sanding process, the cutting edge geometry of all of them is different and every abrasive grain makes its own micro cutting. Therefore ordinary cutting conformities are not applicable. This work investigates the dependence of sanding time, sanding material grit size and sanding speed upon the sanding capacity and tool life. The sanding time decreases material removal efficiency and mostly it falls in the first 15 min. Later from 15 till 30 min efficiency decrement becomes moderate. The reason is that at short initial working period the cutting edge of abrasive grains gets blunt and also the space between abrasive grains becomes loaded with shavings and dust.
