- Abstract
The article looks at the issues involving solvency funding regulations in the Canadian pension system. Solvency funding relief for defined benefit (DB) pension plans are provided by the federal and provincial governments of Ontario, Saskatchewan and Quebec. Discussions about the proposed amendments and jurisdiction changes in the Canadian pension law are offered. It concludes that long term pension reform should be accompanied by immediate action in response to market crisis.
