The article discusses aspects on the gay blood ban or men who have sex with men (MSM) lifetime deferral to blood donation policy which was enforced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1983. Topics discussed include legal aspects of the gay blood ban, the call to amend the policy from the LGBT community, and same-sex marriage rights. Also mentioned are the factors affecting the amendment of the policy including risks of HIV viruses and AIDS.
