- Abstract
The article reports on the decision by the British Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA) to allow women to freely donate their eggs to research projects. The HFEA has decided to allow women to donate their eggs to research projects, whether they are having in vitro fertilization treatment or not, in an effort to overcome the shortage of human egg donors in the country. The HFEA said it will place extra safeguards to ensure that women are properly informed of the risks and protected from coercion.
