- Title
The Impact of Martin Buber on Stefan Zweig.
- Authors
Gelber, Mark H.
- Abstract
The article examines the influence of author Martin Buber on Austrian author Stefan Zweig. Zweig's relationship to Zionism may be viewed to an extent from the perspective of Buber's attempt to spearhead an alternative idea of and program for the movement, a diaspora-oriented Zionism. Additionally, consideration of Stefan Zweig's books "Im Schnee" and "Jeremias" again from the viewpoint of Buber's attempt to foster a Jewish cultural Renaissance, illustrates clearly the development of Zweig's relationship to his Jewish background and future.
