- Abstract
The author comments on the use of exercise in the rehabilitation of children with congenital heart disease. The benefits of exercise to adult patients with cardiovascular diseases are described. The development of pediatric exercise therapy interventions is discussed. The author states that the inability of youth with heart diseases to participate in exercise and sports may have negative impacts on their mental health. Studies of the physiological impact of exercise on children with heart disease are examined. Long-term benefits of physical fitness programs for children and youth are highlighted.
