- Abstract
This article focuses on the recent developments related to the Iowa State University of Science and Technology. Iowa state now offers the Ph.D. degree in psychology. This recent development is expected to expand considerably research activity in industrial psychology. Staff members in economics, psychology, and sociology are currently exploring several problem areas that appear to be feasible for initiating interdisciplinary industrial relations research. Professor Jakubauskas is currently working with the Armour Automation Fund Committee on the retraining and placement of workers affected by the recent shutdown of an Armour plant in Kansas City, Missouri. He is also working on a text for courses in labor market analysis. Professor Harry Cohen has completed a study of patterns of bureaucratic change in a state employment agency. Entitled "The Demonics of Bureaucracy: Problems of Change in a Government Agency," Professor Cohen's study will be published in March 1965 by the Iowa State University Press. His next book will deal with the social problems of an industrial civilization.
