- Title
Examining Early Childhood Spaces: Creating Sunland.
- Authors
Rosen, Rachel
- Abstract
Children, families and educators at Brentwood Preschool in Burnaby, B.C., worked collaboratively to create a classroom space completely from their imaginations: Sunland. Perspectives in geography that highlight space as the product of relationships, constantly changing and full of contradictions, shed light on the imagining, creation, and use of Sunland. This article includes a description of the process of creating Sunland as well as a discussion of the implications for educators and families considering early childhood spaces. In particular, the importance of children's involvement in creating spaces is examined.
