- Authors
PILKINGTON, HILARY
- Abstract
The article discusses changes to the style and performative aspects of the skinhead subculture in Russia. The author discusses the emergence of the skinhead subculture as a cultural style for young people and notes how the skinhead subculture reflects masculine and working-class visual identities through clothing and behavior. She discusses how a focus on whiteness among the skinhead subculture led to the expansion of racism among second-wave skinheads. Research on the visual style of skinheads in Vorkuta, Russia, including their clothing, tattoos and social activities, is described.
