- Abstract
The article presents information about an improved assay for interleukin-2 produced by mitogen-activated lymphocytes. In vitro cytotoxic T cell activation by alloantigen is a two signal process which requires antigen presentation to the responsive T cell in conjunction with an inductive stimulus provided by the lymphocyte costimulator. The continued proliferation of activated T cells also requires the presence of a factor in the culture medium called maintenance factor, also called lymphocyte growth factor.
