- Abstract
This document is a reply to a comment on an article about the management of coagulation disorders in end-stage liver disease. The authors appreciate the comment and acknowledge the importance of viscoelastic tests (VETs) in this field. They discuss the Quantra® system, which uses ultrasound resonance to measure the physical strength of blood as it changes from a liquid to a gel. While the Quantra® system is a significant development, the authors clarify that their focus on rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) and/or TEG as a gold standard is based on its extensive validation and widespread use in clinical practice. They highlight the capabilities of both systems and emphasize that the choice between them should be guided by the specific clinical context and available evidence. The authors express interest in further research on the Quantra® system and its potential role in managing coagulation disorders associated with end-stage liver disease.
