- Abstract
The article examines the implications for financial method patents of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision on the patent application case of Bernard Bilski and Rand Warsaw. A background on the In re Bilski case is presented. It reviews the appellate court decision to dismiss both the examiner's technological-arts and the board's transformation-of-physical-subject-matter positions. It cites the benefits of financial innovations to the society.
