- Abstract
The article discusses the inadequate knowledge of the concepts of decimals by secondary school students in many countries including Australia. Topics include the reference to the introduction of decimal notation concepts in primary schools, decimal displays in computers or calculators as well as research studies in France on whole number rule erroneous thinking. Also mentioned are fraction rule erroneous thinking pattern, stable thought pattern and comparison study on decimal places.
