- Title
Statins Not Associated With Reduced Cancer Risk, Meta-Analysis Shows.
- Abstract
The article cites a study on the inability of common cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins to reduce cancer related deaths. This meta-analysis of 27 randomized controlled trials of statins was conducted by C. Michael White, a pharmacy doctor from the University of Connecticut and Hartford hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, and his colleagues in July 2005. The results of study revealed that statins are incapable of reducing the risk of cancer and cancer mortality in breast, colon, and skin.
