- Abstract
The article discusses a court case wherein the U.S. Supreme Court in Estelle v. Gamble guaranteed that those in custody were entitled to necessary medical care as a Constitutional right. Topics include leading cases for deliberate indifference claims, the difference of medical detoxification from jail detoxification for substance abuse, law surrounding an individual's rights and standards in correctional facilities and the effect of the Supreme Court denying certiorari.
