- Abstract
The article discusses the work of Gallo-Roman aristocrat and bishop Sidonius Apollinaris. It talks about his hundred and forty-seven extant epistles and twenty-four carmina which displays his intricate paideia; focuses on his 1979 landmark study Furtiva lectio which showed the complexity of Sidonius's literary texts; and analyzes the literary connection between that epistle and Sidonius's programmatic epistles.
