- Abstract
The article focuses on a study which evaluated and reported the effect of a weight management program on the prevalence and determinants of metabolic syndrome, and the effect of participation level. The study showed significant reduction in body mass index (BMI), waist circumference and metabolic syndrome prevalence. The metabolic syndrome group showed significant improvements in high-density lipoprotein (HDL), triglycerides, and glucose. It notes that the program had a positive effect on determinants and prevalence of metabolic syndrome.
