- Abstract
The article looks at the difficulties facing social media, information and surveillance technologies in the context of the search provision of the U.S. Fourth Amendment. It references the Supreme Court cases Katz v. United States, O'Connor v. Ortega, and New Jersey v. T.L.O. to understand the concept of a person's reasonable expectation of privacy. Some concerns associated with redefining a new standard for determining the expectation of privacy regarding the technologies are discussed.
