- Authors
Sweeney, John M.
- Abstract
In "The Death of Omnipotence and Birth of Amipotence," Thomas Oord challenges traditional views of divine omnipotence and proposes the concept of amipotence as a more suitable understanding of divine power. The book explores the difficulties with traditional views of omnipotence and presents amipotence as a power that is rooted in love. Oord argues that the Bible does not support traditional views of omnipotence and discusses various philosophical perspectives on divine power. The book also addresses the problem of evil and presents Oord's own theodicy. Overall, "The Death of Omnipotence and Birth of Amipotence" aims to promote the recognition of divine love over divine omnipotence.
