- Title
More Aggressive Screening for BDD Is Needed.
- Abstract
The article reports on the study of the risk of suicidality from persons with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) during the American Psychiatric Association meeting in May 2009 in San Francisco, California. According to physician Katherine Phillips, there was a 57% annual rate of suicidal ideation on persons with BDD. She adds that three percent of 183 BDD patients have tried to commit suicide. Physician Eric Hollander stressed that due to the nature of the disorder, BDD is frequently neglected.
