Contact allergy to colophony and formaldehyde from sand cores.
- Authors
Dahlquini, Ingir
- Abstract
A woman employed at a cast iron factory mended sand cores with a puttylike product before dipping them in a suspension of carbon black methanol. Patch testing revealed contact allergy to colophony and formaldehyde. Additional testing gave positive reactions to resin of tall oil Satin Kot 22, and scrapings from different sand cores. Tests with two resols and novolaks, or phenolic resins, gave negative reactions. The patient had thus contracted her contact allergies both from the repairing preparation and ingredients in the sand cores.
