- Abstract
The article presents the perception of Latter-Day Saint apostle Daniel Hanmer Wells on the Sothern Bazaar charity event in Liverpool, England that was held in October 1864 to raise fund for the Southern Prisoners' Relief Fund (SPRF). Topics discussed are hunger and poverty of families amid the festivities, effects of the Industrial Revolution on society, inability of elites to care for the poor, and connection of Latter-Day Saint millenarianism with industrialization and the Civil War.
