- Title
The Importance of Early Life Studies of Telomere Attrition.
- Authors
Factor‐Litvak, Pam; Susser, Ezra
- Abstract
The authors discuss the need to study the genetic influences of leucocyte telomere length (LTL) in children. Topics discussed include the focus of studies on LTL and disease in adults such as decreased longevity and cardiovascular disease, the study by M. Stathopoulou on genetic influences of children LTL, and the need to study both parents and newborns LTL due to familial effects. They also note the need to examine early life LTL as it may serve as an early risk indicator for disease.
