- Abstract
Objective: Identify the frequency, socioeconomic factors, health, hygiene habits that condition the enteroparasitoses, and to evaluate the physical characteristics of the environment related to intestinal parasites. Method: Cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative research, carried out with children registered in two basic health units aged 3 and 7 years, in the Pau dos Ferros / RN city. The sample consisted by 90 children, that parasitological stool examinations were carried out by means of spontaneous sedimentation, who answered the semi-structured interview. The children who had their collected feces were mapped from the spatial location, using gps, to analyze the characteristics of the environment in which they live. Result: There was a frequency of 50% of children with enteroparasitosis; protozoa showed a prevalence of 100%, with Endolimax nana being the most frequent, with 41.1% of positive cases for monoparasites. As for the polyparasitized E. nana e E. histolytica/díspar presented in 50% of the cases. An association with enteroparasitosis and nail biting was identified. It is noteworthy that 63.3% of households had garbage in their vicinity. Conclusion: The frequency of intestinal parasites was high, signaling the lack of effective actions for the control and prevention of these pathologies, requiring programs or interventions aimed at the prevention, control and / or eradication of this disease.
