The article discusses the bhakti movement in Southern India. The author informs that the bhakti movement in Tamil Nadu covers the period from 6th to 13th century and the bhakti poetry emphasis on the equality among all castes. Also, a section of poets known as Siddhas strongly opposed the caste discriminations and transmigrations of soul and rebirths. Additionally presented is the information on group of poets called Veerashaiva or Lingayata from Karnataka.
