- Authors
Beardmore, Sarah; Kline, Paula; McAlpine, Lynn
- Abstract
The article focuses on the field practicum model developed by the Montreal City Mission of the United Church of Canada. Under the model, social work students are encouraged to analyze the power structures critically, practice high levels of participation and decision-making, and direct their own learning. Furthermore, the policies, guidelines, methodologies and tools are all implemented within a collegial working structure to ensure that the practicum experience prepares students to experience and apply empowerment theory in praxis.
