- Abstract
The number of patients with syncope is high and many studies appreciate that more than 35% of people have at least one syncope in a lifetime phenomenon. Cardiogenic syncope defines a transient loss of consciousness caused by decreased cerebral blood flow due to damage of the heart pump function. The mechanisms of cardiac syncope are multiple: significant decrease in heart rate, impaired diastolic function by shortening the time of filling in excess of tachyarrhythmias, impaired systolic ventricular contractions disorganized in ventricular fibrillation.
