- Abstract
The objective of this study was to identify the presence of Feeding and Eating Disorders (FED) in obese patients prior to starting weight loss treatment, determining the presence of restrictive diets, nighttime intakes and compulsive eating according to sex and age.The study was descriptive, cross-sectional and observational. The selection of the sample was carried out by means of a sampling of non-probabilistic type for convenience, being made up of 150 clinical histories of people with obesity who attended the center "Dieta Club" of Dr. Cormillot, in Rosario, during the months of January to March 2018.Results: 56.7% of the patients had restrictive diets, 28% had night eating syndrome and 65.3% had compulsive diets.A significant association was established between food restriction and sex (p = 0.032) and thisdisorder and age (p = 0.05), being higher in females (62.3%) and in the age range between 18 to 29 years old (73.7%). A statistically significant association was found between night eating disorder and sex (p = 0.023) and age (p = 0.05), being higher in the male sex (40.9%) and the age range between 18-29 years (42.1%). No statistically significant association was found between compulsive eating disorder and sex (p = 0.16) and age (p = 0.37). The limitation of the study was the exclusion of adolescent patients.
