- Abstract
This article aims to analyze the training and participation of users in the process of information technology adoption in municipalities. The research was conducted through a survey with the 60 municipalities of the State of Sergipe and the results show that although practically all respondents have gone through training, many of them evaluates negatively received training. Although feel safe using, most participants still have no security to deal with the reports provided by the information system adopted. In addition, respondents indicate the need for improve the qualification of instructors. The results also show that participants understand as crucial their participation in the information systems development process. Such participation has as main benefits perceived by users: systems become flexible and ease of use, unnecessary features are eliminated, the resistance of the users to the system decreases, and the satisfaction with the implementation increases. Research shows that the adoption of information systems depends on training and participation of users in development process.
