Sieber, Claude; Thiel, Norbert
- Abstract
The article discusses the application of Spinell ceramics in prosthodontics. It informs that spinell is a natural mineral found in limestone and dolomite, with some good material properties for dentistry. In-Ceram Spinell is said to support the dental technician's efforts to approach the light of optics of nature. In-Ceram Alumina or metal ceramic techniques are used for teeth. Although In-Ceram Spinell material is stated to be lower in strength than In-Ceram Alumina, it provides better esthetics to anterior tooth applications. It is suggested that zinc phosphate cements should not be used for reasons of esthetics. In-Ceram Spinell is being used for the past two years, the results of which are stated to be excellent.
