- Title
Paediatrics and Child Health Poster Presentations.
- Abstract
This article discusses the use of Paediatric Rapid Review Clinics (PRRCs) at Monash Children's Hospital in Australia to monitor the progress of children after they are discharged from the Pediatric Emergency Department (PED). The study conducted a retrospective cohort analysis of 723 children who were referred to the PRRC in 2022. The results showed that PRRC consultations were most commonly used to assess clinical improvement, with upper and lower respiratory tract infections being the most common referral issues. The study also found that children under 1 year of age accounted for a significant proportion of PRRC consultations, suggesting a need for additional training and support for PED clinicians in managing acute infant presentations. Overall, the study suggests that PRRCs are valued by caregivers and provide prompt specialist follow-up for pediatric patients.
