- Abstract
The article studies the internal anatomy of Anchistrotos hamatus (taeniacanthidae, copepoda) with special reference to its musculature. The musculature is designed largely to permit simple flexion or extension of one body part upon another. A hamatus was taken from the gills of Serranus scriba Risso, at Split on the Adriatic. There are four main bands of muscle running longitudinally, two dorsal and two ventral. The dorsal band on each side is more lateral than the ventral. No muscle strands extend into the furca. The ventral anterio-posterior bands originate at the level of the mandibles and continue to insert on the posterior margin of the third abdominal segment.
