- Title
Consumer genomics battle lines drawn.
- Authors
DeFrancesco, Laura
- Abstract
The article reports on a debate over the selling of genomic information created by a bill sponsored by California state senator Alex Padilla and personal genomics firm 23andme, which asserts that personal genomics companies should be governed by rules different from other diagnostic tests. According to the bill, post-clinical laboratory improvement amendments (CLIA) bioinformatics firms should not be subject to the same rules as firms that perform wet laboratory services.
