- Abstract
This article discusses the role of genetic testing in patients with unexplained coronary aneurysms or dilation. Coronary artery dilation is a condition where the diameter of the artery exceeds the normal size, and it is often associated with coronary thrombosis and acute myocardial infarction. The article explores the genetic factors that contribute to coronary dilation, including both common genetic variants and rare genetic variants. It also provides examples of inherited connective tissue disorders and monogenic conditions that can cause coronary dilation. The article concludes by recommending genetic testing for patients with unexplained coronary dilation, particularly those who are young and have no known history of Kawasaki disease or cardiovascular risk factors.
