Africa: The Piracy Hot Spot and Its Implications for Global Security.
- Authors
Anyu, J. Ndumbe; Moki, Samuel
- Abstract
An essay is presented that talks about the reason and solutions for piracy in Africa and its effect on world trade. A breakdown in political governance resulting into extreme poverty in Somalia is a reason why citizens go into the act of piracy. Disruption on world trade and probable links into terrorism are some of its effects on an international scale. Some suggested solutions to curb piracy are applying stricter security along shipping sea lanes and helping Somalia achieve a stable form of government
