- Title
The cell wall of Aspergillus fumigatus: an armour or an Achilles heel for this opportunistic pathogen.
- Authors
Latge, Jean-Paul
- Abstract
The article offers information on the fungal cell wall of aspergillus fumigatus (A. fumigatus), a fungus that resists against external aggressions. The major part of the fungal cell wall of A. fumigatus represents polysaccharides, including chitin, galactomannan, and glucan syntheses complex. These polysaccharides play a vital role on the use of cell wall as a major drug target to block cell wall biosynthesis.
