- Abstract
We describe a decarboxylative CP coupling of o-nitrobenzoic acids with H-phosphonates by using a bimetallic palladium/silver catalytic system. Many common functional groups on the phenyl ring of o-nitrobenzoic acids, such as MeO, NO2, F, Cl, and Br, are well tolerated under these conditions. Nevertheless, m- or p-substituted benzoic acids are inert for the reaction. This transformation provides an approach to biologically and synthetically important aryl phosphonates.
