- Abstract
An essay is presented on the regulation of financial markets in Europe. The role of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in regulating these markets under the Financial Services and Markets Act (FSMA) is examined. The underlying rationale for financial regulation in the wake of the financial crisis is offered. Also discussed are the three objectives of the regulation of financial markets, the main principles of financial regulation, and key legislative measures.
