The article discusses Canadian labour and employment laws as of April 2013, focusing on globalization, complex market pressures, and a debate about whether Canada must implement changes to the country's laws as a means of competing with the U.S. Canadian productivity growth and workplace laws are addressed, along with free trade agreements between the two nations and American heavy equipment firm Caterpillar. Canada's social policy and electoral politics are also examined.
