- Abstract
The migration of school-age children from and to Lithuania is increasing. The Lithuanian school system has long been aware of this development, but previously its complexity and its problematic nature have not been as obvious as they are now. There probably is not a single general education institution in Lithuania without at least one pupil who has not lived and attended school abroad. School administrators and teachers as well as parents have to solve problems related to differences among the students' language skills, social environments, and relevant curricula and teaching programs. Although the issue is being increasingly addressed, it is still relatively new to Lithuania, and there are as yet no comprehensive studies about the problems facing these students and their teachers. What resources do the teachers and schools lack? Do they have enough in the way of textbooks, programs, and other teaching tools? Is the education of such students adequately financed? What methods do teachers in Lithuania and abroad use to teach the Lithuanian language?
