- Abstract
Glabridin was obtained from the acetonic extract of Glycyrrhiza glabra, and its in vitro antioxidant activity was studied. The generation of microsomal free radical (ROS) was followed by oxidation of DCFH-DA probe into its oxidized product DCF. The Ginkgo biloba extract EGB761 was used as reference. At the concentration of 0.10, 0.25 and 0. 5 mg/ mL, glabridin inhibited the ROS formation by 67%, 73% and 83%, respectively. At lower concentration, the ROS inhibitory activity of glabridin was the same with those of EGB761. The in vitro experimental result suggested that glabridin has a strong antioxidant property.
