- Abstract
The article discusses strategies that healthcare organizations can employ to retain nurses. The article acknowledges the nursing shortage and refers to a Nobscot Corporation metanalysis that indicates that turnover accounts for 25% of total annual compensation, and that reducing turnover will increase an organization's competitive advantage. The article addresses employee satisfaction as one would consider consumer satisfaction--studying nurses as consumers in employment behavior. The article presents data regarding employee switching costs, explaining the research methodology, data and data analysis, and implications.
