- Abstract
The article presents several studies concerning the health of the children. These studies include the comparison on the nutritional status between urban and rural adolescents in Jamaica. Also included is the study on the prevalence of pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPV) in children with sickle cell disease (SCD). In this study, PPV patients were diagnosed by newborn screening since November 1995 and the incidence of invasive pneumococcal disease. Moreover, another study is mentioned that compares the pregnancy and birth anthropometric measures of pregnant HIV-positive and HIV-negative women. Results of these studies are discussed in the article.
