- Authors
Lampe, Kurt
- Abstract
The article explores the concept of existentialism in the book "Nausea," by Lucius Annaeus Seneca. According to the author, when he is speaking of existentialist theories or existential ennui, he denotes those representations that make ennui an inescapable concomitant of the human conditions. The author cites the narrative framework of the satirical work of Persius Flaccus wherein the term existentialist should not be used. An overview of "Nausea" and its allegorical characters is also provided.
