Title
Concentration of radionuclides in uranium tailings.
Abstract
The article discusses the high concentration of radionuclides in the tailings at Jaduguda uranium ore mines in India. It notes that tailing ponds reach 300,000 milligrams of ore per year which are discharged in the liquid form through pipeline. It evaluates plant species for perennial cover that have or little uptake of radionuclides and found that Jatropha gossypifolia and Furcraea foetida have the lowest uptake among seven species tested.
