- Abstract
The article explores the significance of incorporating Indigenous perspectives and knowledge in the research and management of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). It emphasizes the need for collaboration and consultation with Indigenous communities, highlighting the disconnect between Western scientific approaches and Indigenous knowledge. The article raises concerns about the potential loss of culture, connection to land, and understanding of cervids among Indigenous communities as CWD spreads. It calls for respectful and inclusive research that considers the needs and perspectives of Indigenous communities and advocates for equitable collaboration between researchers, managers, and Indigenous peoples.
