- Abstract
The article describes the mammalian type species Neotoma (N.) magister. N. magister's external morphology is similar to that of N. floridana. However, identification of N. magister based on single measurements is unreliable due to morphometric overlap. Its dorsal pelage is gray to brownish gray, with ventral surface being white from throat to tip of tail. The species' historic distribution follows the Appalachian Mountains and Interior Highland regions of the eastern U.S. from western Connecticut to northern Alabama.
